How Can I Speed Up My PC – Help For My Old Machine

Monday, March 8th, 2010

‘Why has my computer slowed down’ and how can I speed up my PC‘ are two very common, daily problems experienced by many computer users. It isn’t really surprising that your pc’s speed slows down. Although it may have been the most powerful pc a few years ago, the development of newer and more efficient hardware and software can cause it to lag behind. But aside from this reason, there are plenty of other things that can make your pc to slow down. So how do you fix your pc’s speed.

Disable malware. Trojan, worm, adware, spyware…you name it. These have been causing havoc lately. If there are bugs in your pc, remove them immediately. There are plenty of malware removal programs and majority of these programs are designed to fix your computer up. You can either pay for these are download them from your trusted websites.

Increase your computer’s memory. New computer programs are configured with better performance and high system requirements in mind. If you have no plan of replacing your old computer soon, you should seriously consider adding more memory to it. 1 GB will do if you are not requiring high-maintenance programs like games but if you are using your computer for operations other than surfing the internet and making of documents, you should consider a higher upgrade.

De-clutter your drives. Look at your computer this way: it’s a cabinet. An organized cabinet makes it easy for the user to find his things but a cluttered one will require users to literally search through it.

The same is true with pcs. If it is disorganized, it is much harder for it to run its own programs. After all, it will have to search through its disorganized sectors before it finds the things needed to run your operations. If you think you have some cleaning up to do, do it immediately.

Run utility tools like hard drive scanners as often as you can. Regularly delete files, programs and applications as well. Check out your registry for file debris too. Your pc has a very efficient system of retaining its files, thus even when you have already deleted certain programs, file debris are still retained.

Regularly run disk cleanup tools to ensure that all the files in your computer – from the recycle bin to downloaded files – are properly sorted out. Also, always clear your online browsing history. If you don’t really keep track of your browsing history, try limiting the number of days your pc retains your browsing history. You’ll be surprised how much space is used up by these.

After a ‘general cleaning’, practice regular defragmentation of your drives and regular disk management procedures.

Check your pc’s capacity. It is one thing to regularly use your computer and quite another to overwork it every day. If it isn’t working fast enough for your requirements, check its actual capacity. Turtle-slow computers run on below 15% of free disk space. If you need it to run faster, it should have at least 25% free disk space or the recommended 50% free disk space. Otherwise, you can expect to work it like an unpleasant task.

Moderate expectations and regular pc management go hand in hand in resolving the problem on ‘how can I speed up my PC‘.

Speed up pc.

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I use the registry cleaner, Registry Easy, to speed up my pc. ….This registry cleaner operates by cleaning out the windows registry. The computer runs up to 70% faster after it has been cleaned. My brother started running up the stairs yesterday shouting that his pc was too slow. Then he ran into my room, dived onto my bed, rolled over, and yelled at me “how can I fix this computer?” .

Before continuing, check out my article about how to speed computer up .

I told him to handle his pc more carefully or it may fall and cause him more serious problems. “.

“Go ahead, say whatever you want.”.” He was as usual being sarcastic. “My computer is just too. too slow!”. “.

“Why don’t you clean your computer?”.

‘Who ever heard of anyone cleaning a laptop?”.

Alright then… Your computer is quite old isn’t it? 6 years.

“It’s about that figure, yeah. ” His words carried their customary flippancy.

For a registry cleaner that works quite well, you can check out my article  about  Speed up pc.

The older your laptop gets the more error filled the windows registry becomes. …. This is why a lot of computers lose their speed… So, in order to make you pc speed up again . I would say that you need to consider a registry cleaner. .

“Do you know how to do that?” he asked.

I referred him to a registry cleaner that I had been using for some time now. After trying it he would understand why his computer needed cleaning. So, now might be a good time for him to stop complaining, and just fix his computer.

” ok… I’ll go … “. And so, he finally left me in peace.

The reason why the registry is so important is because everthing goes through there.

When the computer is new, the registry has almost no corrupted files at all. Unfortunately, the registry does not remain clean.

And soon enough, people get angry and upset because their cluttered registries are making their laptops slow. How to increase the speed of my pc ? The laptop will continue to be slow if you neglect the registry cleaning. Computers can be just like people: they both perform badly when they’re overloaded with unnecessary baggage..

If you don’t clean the registry regularly, the computer will, eventually, slow down. Making a lot of noise will not do anything to make your computer run faster. A registry cleaner should be used as an integral part of any computer maintenance routine.

With regular maintenance the windows registry accumulates a lot fewer errors. In the end, the general level of the pc’s functioning improves. For once my brother did as he was told and he was happy: his computer got faster. He can go ahead and play his computer games again without worrying about a slow and sluggish laptop.

Thanks for checking out my article. Good-bye, and take care. .

Why Windows XP Registry Cleaners Are A Smart Investment

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

It still surprises me that Windows XP registry cleaners are not standard with every copy of Windows XP. Regardless, you still have to search elsewhere in order to find a decent utility. While the registry is slowly becoming an outdated system, there is still a lot of benefit to be found from keeping your registry clean. Investing in a quality registry cleaner is important and making sure you run it regularly will keep your PC at its top speed.

First, you need to understand why a registry cleaner is so important. Your registry is, in simple terms, the brain of your operating system. Developed way back with Windows 3.1, the registry cleaner is still in use today. However, when you uninstall, move or update programs you might leave behind artifacts in the registry that slow down your computer’s processing time.

The cost of these cleaners can vary quite a bit. Some cleaners are available for free as a download from some websites. While these cleaners may function, you don’t have any real binding agreement with a company who gives you a free program. You’re putting your computer in the hands of a company who will take no responsibility if something should go wrong. Your best bet is to buy a Windows XP registry cleaner. They are still cheap, typically under 40 dollars and you will get access to customer service and possibly even free updates. It just makes more sense than downloading freeware when it comes to something as important as the registry.

A good cleaner comes with many different features ranging from backup utilities and scheduled maintenance to recycle bin cleaners and customer support. With a free program, you will likely only get the bare bones cleaner and a FAQ to help with your problems. Unless you really know what you’re doing, you’re much better off with the cleaner that offers all the tools you need to do the job right.

With all of the valuable items on your computer such as pictures, music, business and personal records, it truly is a smart idea to invest in a software that you know is going to do its job of helping speed up PC performance.  Of course, a smart computer user also performs backups to ensure that these important items aren’t lost. So when you cringe and ask, “how much are Windows XP registry cleaners going to cost,” just remind yourself that it can protect priceless files.

Are Free Registry Cleaner Programs Safe?

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

You might be enticed into downloading a free registry cleaner program, but you might want to first consider the difference between free programs and ones you pay for. As it turns out, there is more than just a price difference. Getting a free program might mean you are taking risks that put your computer in jeopardy. And since a registry cleaner is all about keeping your computer running at its highest level, putting it in danger is the last thing you want to do.

Like any product there are pros and cons.  A free version may initially be free to download. However, it may only be for a limited trial period so you have to be prepared to shell out a few dollars when the free trial expires. But that’s not even the main problem with freeware. What’s really a cause for concern is when something goes wrong with the software and the manufacturer may not offer the support you need.  In addition, free software could have vicious malware that can muck up your system more. This is not always the case but it’s good to be warned beforehand. If you still decide to get a free product for the Windows Registry, make sure you do your homework first.

If you decide to go with a program from a software company, you may have to pay a little but you get a lot more than with a free program. The biggest benefit you get is the support of the company from whom you purchased the program, something you definitely don’t get from a free registry cleaner program. You will also likely get access to any updates to the program or future changes. If you’re still unsure about dropping the money on a registry cleaner, you can always visit the company website and check out a free trial. Almost every company offers some kind of demo version of their product.

Whether you buy a program or opt for a free registry cleaner program, you have to make sure that it comes with a backup utility. A damaged registry can be a major problem you want to avoid at all costs. If your program has a backup utility, you can restore an old version and avoid potential problems. A free program may or may not come with this utility.

Not everyone can afford to spend money on a registry cleaner and a free registry program will work just fine in most circumstances. However, the lack of support and risk of getting a poorly designed free registry cleaner program may be enough incentive for many people to spend a little extra money and get a quality product.

How to Speed Up Your PC With a Registry Cleaner

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

If you use your computer constantly, whether for work or recreation, it is inescapable for issues to arise.  The most common of which is a decline in the PC speed and performance.  This is experienced particularly during start up or shutting down of the computer and other applications, in playing games, browsing the web, and such like.  This will get very maddening, troublesome, time-consuming and even quite costly if you’re losing quality work time on your PC.

The usual problem with windows XP is that it contains a part which constantly gets damaged and corrupted.  Due to this problem, the files take a while to read, slows down your computer and even cause more mistakes.  This computer part responsible for these issues is the registry.

Every time you use your computer you open lots of different files within the registry.  Things happen so swiftly that windows starts putting files in the incorrect place as it is overloaded with work.  The filing system gets muddled and just like one of those manual filing cabinets, things become tricky to find and it take more time to access because they’re not where they deserve to be and results in your PC slowing down.

To fix this is essentially very simple – you just need to employ a tool called a ‘registry cleaner’ to go thru your system and fix all of the corrupt registry files that are in there.  Registry cleaners are awfully effective at speeding your personal computer up because they get this central database working smoothly and efficiently again, making your personal computer run as new.  Dependent on how good your registry cleaner is, you only need to run one scan and you will often see a massive improvement straight away.

Make Pc Faster

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

One or two months into your new computer, you will notice substantial loss of speed.  This happens to pretty much anything that you have in there – applications, net, files.  One of the reasons behind this issue is the infiltration of malware and adware into your system.  Add to that unwanted programs and you are left with a slow desktop that makes you feel like ripping your hair out because it consumes your valuable time.  So how to speed up your PC?

Cleanup Disk.  To get your PC runs quicker ; you want to cut back the amount of unnecessary files or the files that are now not required and used in your hard disk.  Perhaps, Disc cleanup is a complete must to unlock your disc space.  It helps to clean the blunders in your computer performance.  Click “start’ menu and select “my computer”.  Right click the disk you want to check the mistakes and select “properties”.  In the properties dialog box, click on “tools” and press “check now” on the error-checking section.  Check all of the check boxes and press start.  A message box pops-up and asks if you want to line up the disk check the next time you restart your computer.

Look fo rspyware.  Spyware slows down your computer. Removing spyware will make Pc faster. This not only saps your system of significant information but ALSO valuable working space.  Basically, it uses concealed applications that are downloaded together with whatever apparently legitimate bit of software you are trying to download.

Remove brief files.  There are 2 categories of non permanent files, the one from the web and the temporary files stored in your programs.  Temporary web files are stored into your system every time you visit a website so that when you reopen that particular web site, it is much quicker.  The difficulty [, however ,] is that too many transient Internet files at last slows down your system, making the original purpose moot.  Just like temporary web files, short lived program files get logged every time you open up a program or application.
