Just yesterday, in a random search, I stumbled upon this technology blog post that discussed yet another smart application by a young George Hotz. For those who happen to hear this name for the first time, here is a quick peek into who George Hotz is and why you must know about him -
George Hotz, now 20, is a famous hacker who a little while ago, in the year 2007, had created a lot of buzz in the technology world when he originally unlocked the iPhone (internet connected and multimedia enabled phone) with his team of five another hackers. Though the application asks for some good experience of soldering and software.That was the first hardware unlock of the iPhone.
How is unlocking advantageous?
· With unlocking of iPhone, the iPhone may be used with any SIM card
· Thus unlocking grants functionality of the iPhone with any GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications- allows you to roam and switch carriers without siwtching phones) wireless carrier.
That was Hotz’s first greatest hacking achievement and as the blog states, Hotz is out with his second miracle -his new jailbreaking software for iPhone 3GS -purplera1n. According to the post with jailbreak software you could run those applications which are otherwise unofficial i.e. one would be able to install third-party software which are not licensed by the Apple’s App Store.
